Multiplier Event of ASSIST project

The Multiplier Event of ASSIST project took place on Thursday 18/7/2025 in the city of Volos and at the premises of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with the participation of more than 20 people from the University of Thessaly, Domokos Prison and the local community of the city of Volos.

The event was held with great success, since the attendees had the opportunity to be informed by the participating groups in the project about the results of the project and mainly to be educated in detail about the material that was developed in 3 European languages (Greek, English, Spanish) and was then taught to a group of adult learners of the 1st Second Chance School of Domokos. Introducing programming in a prison environment through an Erasmus+ program

The Second Chance School of Domokos in Greece has recently coordinated the Erasmus+ project enhAncing digital SkillS In priSon education - ASSIST, partnering with the University of Thessaly’s computing department in Volos and the University of Almeria in Spain. This initiative, now approaching to its conclusion, focused on delivering digital skills training to incarcerated adult learners. The curriculum included foundational courses in basic computing—primarily Windows operating system—word processing using Microsoft Word, and an introduction to Python programming. The event was held with great success, and the participants presented during these 3 days a lot of the material that is designed and has just started to be taught to the adult incarcerated learners of the Second Chance School of Domokos. Meanwhile, on the 2nd day of the activity, a lecture was given by the professor of the Department of Informatics of the University of Almeria, Mr. Antonio Coral, to several students of the department, thus allowing them to get familiar with material from the implemented courses [...]
