1st Second Chance School of Domokos
The 1st Second Chance School of Domokos started its operation in 2008 and is located on the grounds of an adult male
prison. Our school's goal is to give students a formal educational framework while also giving them the opportunity to
develop a desire to engage in cognitive pursuits and make their time in prison more affordable. Since September 2016, the
school has resumed its operation (after being closed for two years between 2014 and 2016) due to the prison's status
adjustment to a Category C prison. The curriculum of a second chance school consists of basic education lessons
(language, arithmetic, computing, physics, etc.) without any additional reading materials/books.
Adult educators of a second
chance school are solely accountable to assess each student's needs and modify the lesson accordingly. A second chance
school is an autonomous institution with a personalized teaching approach and instructor flexibility, that is primarily exciting
and engaging for the learner.
