The meeting of the Erasmus+ project entitled ASSIST - enhAncing digital SkillS In PriSon EducaTion”, Project No: 2023-1-EL01-KA210-ADU-000158469 took place on Thursday 27/6/2024 and Friday 28/6/2024 in the facilities of the Computer Science Department of the University of Almeria Partners of the project are the 1st Second Chance School of Domokos (Grecce as coordinator), the University of Thessaly (Greece) with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the University of Almeria (Spain) with the Computer Science Department.
The main idea of this project is to address the need for incarcerated learners of Second Chance School of Domokos to acquire practical skills and digital competences in order to strengthen their personal expertise in digital transformation and obtain concrete programming skills. Particularly, this project facilitates the access and use of digital tools from a social group with limited access to them.
The meeting, unfortunately, took place in a hybrid format, since there was a last-minute COVID-19 incident, that prohibited one of the partners from traveling to Spain. Nonetheless, the partners had the chance in those two days to deeply discuss and analyze all the results, that were obtained from activity 2 of the project.
In activity 2, the consortium prepared and delivered a detailed questionnaire for the learners of the Second Chance School, in order to perform an in-depth analysis of the results that derived from the answers that were given. The consortium discussed the detailed report that was prepared from the coordinator of the project Mr. Mallios Nikolaos, and took some important decisions concerning the continuation of the project and the delivery of the next (important) activity of the project.
During the 2nd day of the meeting, the partners discussed the design and format of the lessons that will be implemented for the incarcerated learners of the school and managed to achieve a new standardized format, that will be followed by them for the successful delivery of all 24 multimedia lessons. Added value for the project, will be the implementation of all courses in 3 European languages (English, Spanish and Greek) and the upload of all lessons in the European Union’s designated platform, thus enhancing the sustainability of the project. The meeting ended with the conferring of the certificates to all partners that were present and the renewal of their appointment for the implementation of the 4th activity of the project (the designated LTTA event), which will take place in Volos-Greece, during the 1st half of October 2024.
