The kick-start meeting of the European program entitled "ASSIST – enhAncing digital Skills In PriSon EducaTion" and code 2023-1-EL01-KA210-ADU-000158469, which implements and coordinates the Second Chance School of Domokos, was held by teleconference (online) on Wednesday 20/12/2023. Partners of the program along with SDE Domokou, are the University of Thessaly (Greece) with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the University of Almeria - UAL with the Department of Informatics.
During the meeting, which was held in the presence of all the partners, all the details concerning the course of the implementation of the project were discussed, the objectives of the program were set and the proposed timetable was analyzed to achieve optimal management and completion of the project until June 2025.
The main objective of the project is to help our school's adult learners acquire new digital skills, develop their competencies in basic IT and Python programming, and enhance their digital literacy skills. The two universities will develop a series of 24 courses in basic IT, word processing, and programming in Python, which will be tailored to the needs of each trainee and provide them with everything they need to develop important skills that will be useful to them after their release.
We are certain that with the help of the two important University Departments, an excellent course curriculum will be implemented in 3 different languages (Greek, Spanish and English) that will be freely available after the end of the project to be used by similar schools based inside prison premises all over Europe.
